Estate Worker
Starting salary up to £28,500 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday 8am-4pm)
The role comprises a range of practical tasks including:
-tree & hedgerow planting & maintenance, pruning and coppicing
-lawn & grassland maintenance using ride-on, pedestrian & flail mowers
-pond maintenance
-perennial weed management
-maintenance of electric and wooden fencing
-leaf clearing and maintaining tidy working areas
-safe use and maintenance of garden tools and machinery
The position would suit someone with:
-an active & strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
-experience of using garden machinery
-a passion for trees, plants, and wildlife conservation
This role entails a significant amount of physical work and requires you to work in all weather conditions. You will have a keen eye for detail and great observational skills.
For the right candidate there would be a package of work-based training (including brushcutter, woodchipper, use of ATV, first aid).
Candidates will need to have:
-Ideally 2-3 years experience within the estate work/gardening sector
-Good plant knowledge or willingness to learn
-Preferably experience in the use of powered equipment - ride-on mowers, hedgecutters, strimmers, leafblowers
-PA1 & PA6 spraying licence – considered an advantage
-Candidates must have a full clean UK driving licence

This is an exciting opportunity for an active and enthusiastic Estate Worker to join the Garden Team in the day to day running of the gardens and grounds on a beautiful family estate near Chippenham.
The Garden Team comprises three estate workers and seven gardeners, all working to ensure that the gardens, parkland, woodland programme, meadows & habitat projects are maintained to a high standard, and are managed sympathetically to increase biodiversity.
You will be required to communicate effectively with the wider estate team, estate management and estate owners so a polite and professional attitude is important. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
