Role: Assistant Quality Manager
Location: Bristol
Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience
My client well-established aerospace engineering business based in Bristol, looking for an experienced Assistant Quality Manager to join their team.
The role will involve leading a small team of Quality Inspectors and working closely with the Quality Manager to manage the day-to-day quality function.
This would suit someone with a background in quality engineering or quality management who has some supervisory experience and is looking for the next step in their career. You will need to be comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment, dealing with quality issues and finding practical solutions on the shop floor.
Responsibilities include:

Leading and motivating a small team of Quality Inspectors

Supporting the training and development of the team

Managing the throughput of finished goods from a quality perspective

Managing the day-to-day quality requirements of the sub-contract supplier base
-
Supporting FMEA and FAIR activities

Maintaining documentation and records relating to quality activities

Programming CMMs
-
Acting as the link between the Quality Inspectors and Quality Manager

Investigating quality issues and providing practical solutions on the shop floor

Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, route cards and process instructions

Reviewing dimensions, tolerances and inspection requirements

Preparing and maintaining reports in accordance with AS9102
Skills and experience:
-
Experience in a quality engineering, quality inspection or quality management role

Experience within aerospace or precision engineering

Previous experience supervising or leading a small team, or looking to take the next step into a supervisory role

Experience with CMM programming

Good knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions and tolerances

Experience with FMEA, FAIRs and AS9102

Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to resolving quality issues

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across the business

A relevant engineering or quality qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC/HND, degree or equivalent
Beneficial but not essential:

Experience programming Aberlink CMMs

Additional quality-related qualifications
