About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive independent special educational needs (SEN) school in the Saltash area. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, ideal for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people. You will be working closely with Year 7 and Year 8 pupils, supporting their learning and emotional development in a nurturing environment. Pupils may have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and other learning differences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Help to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social skills
- Promote independence and confidence in learning
- Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals as needed
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in KS3
- Calm, patient, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs
