Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced ‘Finance & Payroll Lead’ to support our friendly office team by covering our Finance and Payroll Lead's maternity leave. During this time, you will take full responsibility for payroll across a small multi-company group, alongside key finance duties. Making this an ideal role for someone with strong payroll expertise and a solid finance background
Payroll Responsibilities
This is a normal combination of 2 monthly payrolls for approx. 10 staff and another for approx. 120 staff.
Payroll duties include:
- Manage and process monthly payrolls for 2 companies using Sage Payroll.
- Collating, entering and reconciling the payroll information, while ensuring that all statutory reporting deadlines are met.
- Creating new starters and processing leavers
- Dealing with Pensions, auto enrolment requirements, etc.
- Generating payslips, P45, P60’s, P11D’s, etc.
- Any other payroll related administration
Finance Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, journals, accruals, prepayments, and financial reports across the group.
- Maintain accurate sales, purchase, and bank ledgers, including reconciliations and payment processing.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns.
- Process and reconcile payments, including Wix, Zettle, and company credit cards.
- Prepare year-end accounts, payroll information, and audit schedules.
- Complete Sage year-end processes and support external accountants.
- Respond to audit queries and provide supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate electronic records.
General
The ideal candidate must have experience with Sage Payroll, Sage Accounts and Microsoft Excel. You must have a can-do attitude, be a team player, have excellent attention to detail and be able to prioritise effectively, working to deadlines.
The role requires 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday and the ability to drive due to our countryside location.

Due to the proximity of the office near to our children’s nursery, the successful applicant will be required to undergo enhanced ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ (DBS) and necessary references.
Dependant on company growth – may lead to permanent role within the accounts department. (Not intended to replace existing staff)
Pay: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
