Residential Support Worker – Children's Home

We're looking for a compassionate, dependable Residential Support Worker to join our small team caring for a child in a warm, home-like residential setting. You'll be one of the trusted adults in their day — keeping them safe, championing their development, and being there through the ordinary moments that matter most. In return, you'll have a management team that backs you, colleagues who share the load, and real support to build a long-term career in children's residential care.
Shift pattern: days, nights and sleep-ins as required, with an extra £70 paid for every sleep-in.

What you'll be doing
- Provide personalised care and support to children and young people in line with individual care plans.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that promotes emotional and social development.
- Assist with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and recreational pursuits.
- Support behavioural management strategies and encourage positive behaviour.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and progress notes.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and external professionals about the child's needs and progress.
- Drive the child safely to appointments, school and activities — including the fun ones.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development activities.
What you'll need
- Hold a Level 3/4 in Residential Childcare or willing to work towards
- Hold a full UK driving licence
You will bring:
- Experience working with children or young people in a care or support setting
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Knowledge of child development principles and childcare practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping and reporting purposes.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
