Cooksmill is a family-owned catering equipment and supplies cash & carry, serving restaurants, takeaways, hotels, caterers and other hospitality businesses, as well as the general public.
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Delivery Driver & Cash & Carry Assistant to join our team at our Salford branch.
This is a varied role combining work within our busy cash & carry with customer deliveries and stock collections using our 3.5 tonne company van.
The amount of driving will vary depending on the needs of the business. Initially, a larger proportion of the role is likely to be based within the cash & carry, with the potential for driving to increase to around 3 days per week as our delivery requirements grow.
When not driving, you will work as part of the Salford team, serving customers, replenishing stock, receiving deliveries and picking orders.
The role will include:
- Driving our 3.5 tonne company van to make customer deliveries.
- Collecting and transferring stock between our Salford, Bradford and distribution centre locations.
- Collecting stock from suppliers as required.
- Loading and unloading the van and ensuring goods are transported safely and securely.
- Checking deliveries and collections for accuracy.
- Picking and preparing stock for deliveries and internal transfers.
- Serving customers and helping them find the right products.
- Operating the till and taking cash and card payments.
- Replenishing stock throughout the cash & carry, including regular use of step ladders.
- Receiving and checking incoming deliveries.
- Answering customer telephone enquiries.
- Keeping the shop floor, warehouse, stock areas and company vehicle clean and well organised.
- Manual handling and some heavy lifting as part of the role.
What we're looking for:
- A full UK driving licence suitable for driving a 3.5 tonne van.
- Confident and responsible when driving a larger commercial vehicle.
- Reliable, punctual and self-motivated.
- Friendly and confident when dealing with customers.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when checking and delivering orders.
- Comfortable working in a busy, hands-on cash & carry environment.
- Able to work both independently while driving and as part of the wider store team.
- Comfortable with manual handling, loading/unloading stock and the physical aspects of the role.
- Previous van driving, delivery, cash & carry, retail, wholesale or warehouse experience would be an advantage.
Hours
Full-time position – 40 hours per week
Working hours are 9am–5pm, 5 days per week, on a rota basis, including 2 Saturdays per month.
When a Saturday is worked, a weekday off will be given.
This is a combined cash & carry and driving role. The amount of driving will vary according to business requirements and may increase to around 3 days per week as our delivery service grows.
When not driving, you will be based primarily at our Salford cash & carry, serving customers, replenishing stock, receiving deliveries and picking orders.
Pay: £13.45 per hour
