Hours: 39 hours per week, plus overtime as required
Purpose
To safely and efficiently undertake driving and labouring duties in support of roofing, cladding and construction activities whilst maintaining compliance with all company and site-specific safety procedures. The role involves the transportation of materials, plant and equipment to and from sites, together with general labouring duties to support site operations.
The successful candidate may be required to act as Site Supervisor on occasion, ensuring site activities are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures. Candidates already holding a Site Supervisor qualification or working towards one would be advantageous.
A valid Telehandler CPCS/NPORS certification is desirable and may be utilised as part of the role where required.
Health & Safety
- Drive company vehicles in accordance with road traffic legislation and company procedures.
- Conduct daily vehicle and equipment inspections and report defects immediately.
- Maintain all relevant licences, certifications and training requirements.
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies, risk assessments and method statements.
- Wear and maintain appropriate PPE at all times.
- Participate in site safety briefings, toolbox talks and training sessions.
- Report accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards across all work areas.
- Ensure safe loading, unloading and transportation of materials, plant and equipment.
Key Working Relationships
Internal: Site Managers, Contracts Managers, Roofing & Cladding Operatives, Labourers, Health & Safety Team, Plant & Transport Department
External: Main Contractors, Site Management Teams, Plant Suppliers, Delivery Drivers, Clients and Client Representatives
Accountabilities
Safely transport materials, plant, tools and equipment between company premises and project sites.
Load and unload deliveries in a safe and controlled manner.
Assist with storage and distribution of materials to work areas.
Carry out daily vehicle checks and monthly report documentation.
Assist with maintaining clean, organised and safe work areas.
Support roofing and cladding operations through labouring activities.
Assist with unloading materials and preparing work areas.
Move materials manually where required and safe to do so.
Assist tradespersons with general site tasks.
Support waste management and housekeeping activities.
Ensure materials and equipment are stored securely.
Follow instructions from site management and supervisors.
Represent the company professionally on client sites.
Operate telehandler equipment where qualified and required.
Act as Site Supervisor on occasion when requested by management.
Plant, Vehicle & Equipment Responsibilities
- Ensure company vehicles and equipment are maintained in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Report defects, breakdowns or damage immediately.
- Assist with coordination of vehicle servicing, inspections and maintenance schedules.
- Monitor fuel levels and vehicle requirements.
- Ensure all vehicle documentation is completed accurately.
General Labouring Duties
- Site setup and welfare maintenance.
- Assisting roofing and cladding operatives.
- Material handling and distribution.
- General cleaning and housekeeping.
- Assisting with loading and unloading deliveries.
- Waste segregation and disposal.
- Supporting site logistics and access arrangements.

- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Previous experience within a construction environment.
- Good understanding of construction site safety requirements.
- Ability to undertake manual handling and labouring duties.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- CPCS or NPORS Telehandler Operator Card.
- Previous experience operating telehandlers on construction sites.
- Experience within roofing and cladding projects.
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) qualification or currently working towards obtaining it.
- Slinger/Signaller qualification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Manual Handling training.
- Working at Height awareness.
- Plant and vehicle maintenance knowledge.
