Job Opportunity – Tool Fitter required at our Head Office in Brentwood.
Working hours 8.30 am – 6.00 pm
Broughton Plant Hire & Sales is looking to recruit a full-time Tool fitter to join our busy workshop team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a wide range of small hire equipment, ensuring all tools are safe, reliable and ready for hire. Equipment includes press fitting tools, Ridgid threading machines, drills, grinders and other portable power tools.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Carry out the inspection, servicing, maintenance and repair of plant and equipment in the workshop, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults, identifying and rectifying defects efficiently.
- Prepare plant and equipment for hire, ensuring machines are safe, compliant and ready for customer use.
- Ensure all repairs and servicing are accurately documented using the company's maintenance systems
- Carry out safety inspections and ensure all equipment complies with relevant legislation and company standards.
- Assist drivers with the safe unloading and loading of plant and equipment at the depot.
- Inspect all equipment returned from hire, checking for damage, missing items and cleanliness, and report any defects or discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop, adhering to health and safety policies and housekeeping standards.
- Work effectively as part of the workshop team to meet customer demand and deadlines
- Participate in training and continuous professional development to maintain technical knowledge and skills.
Key Job Requirements
- Previous experience in the maintenance and repair of plant.
- Good mechanical knowledge, with the ability to diagnose and repair faults
- Plant Hire experience desired but not essential
- Ability to carry out inspections, servicing and repairs to a high standard while meeting deadlines.
- Willingness to assist with loading, unloading and inspecting returned hire equipment as part of the workshop operation.
- Flexible approach to work with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
- Hard working and physically fit due to the nature of the equipment
