About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Quality Manager to lead and continuously improve our Quality Management System (QMS) across both manufacturing sites. You will ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and business requirements while driving quality performance, supplier quality and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
Experience within PET recycling, plastics or packaging manufacturing is desirable; however, candidates with a strong manufacturing quality background are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Plan, conduct and manage first, second and third-party audits, ensuring successful audit outcomes and timely closure of findings.
- Investigate customer complaints, internal non-conformances and quality issues using Root Cause Analysis and implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs).
- Conduct supplier risk assessments and implement risk-based supplier continuous improvement programmes.
- Manage the qualification, approval and ongoing monitoring of raw material, packaging and third-party manufacturing suppliers.
- Monitor supplier and third-party manufacturer KPIs and drive initiatives to improve supplier performance.
- Investigate supplier and third-party manufacturer non-conformities and implement effective CAPAs.
- Conduct supplier audits and maintain supplier approval records.
- Analyse quality data and KPIs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to improve manufacturing performance and product quality.
- Lead, coach and support the Quality team while promoting a culture of quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with customer, legal, regulatory and certification requirements across both manufacturing sites.
About You
Essential
- Proven experience in a Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience conducting first, second and third-party audits.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, supplier quality management and continuous improvement.
- Experience managing supplier approval, supplier risk assessments and supplier performance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with experience in Root Cause Analysis and CAPA.
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between the Seaham and Sherburn sites.
Desirable
- Experience within PET recycling, plastics, polymer or packaging manufacturing.
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Polymer Science, Quality Management or a related discipline.
- ISO 9001 or any other Lead Auditor qualification.
- HACCP Level 3.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent.
