Overview
We are looking for dedicated, compassionate, and motivated Support Workers to join our Supported Accommodation Service for young people aged 16-18 years. This role involves working closely with young people who are preparing for independence, helping them develop the practical, emotional, social, and life skills they need to achieve positive outcomes.
As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support in line with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and individual support plans. You will act as a positive role model, mentor, and advocate, supporting young people to access education, training, employment, healthcare, and community activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical, emotional, and social support to young people aged 16-18.
- Support young people in developing independence skills, including cooking, budgeting, cleaning, personal care, and managing appointments.
- Promote positive outcomes in education, employment, training, and personal development.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Support young people to develop confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
- Assist young people to access health services, community resources, and recreational activities.
- Encourage and support young people to manage their finances and understand tenancy responsibilities.
- Complete key work sessions and contribute to support plans and risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate records, daily logs, incident reports, and safeguarding documentation.
- Work in partnership with social workers, personal advisers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and families.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of young people at all times.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions, and ongoing training.
- Support young people with transitions into adulthood and independent living.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, Children and Young People's Workforce, Residential Childcare, Youth Work, Social Care, or a related field.
- Experience working with children, young people, care leavers, or vulnerable adults.
- Experience working in a Supported Accommodation, Children's Residential Home, Semi-Independent Living Service, Leaving Care Service, Foster Care, Youth Offending Service, or similar setting.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Knowledge of the challenges facing young people transitioning to independence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive professional relationships while maintaining boundaries.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Competent IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Flexible approach to shift work, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in duties where required.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle desirable.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 or above in Children and Young People's Services, Residential Childcare, Health and Social Care, Social Work, Youth Work, Criminology, Psychology, Counselling, or a relevant discipline.
- Experience supporting young people with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- Emotional and behavioural difficulties
- Mental health needs
- Trauma and attachment difficulties
- Leaving care and homelessness
- Knowledge of Ofsted Supported Accommodation Standards.
- Training in Safeguarding, First Aid, Mental Health Awareness, Positive Behaviour Support, Risk Assessment, or De-escalation Techniques.

Pay: £25,420.00-£37,133.24 per year
