We are now looking for an enthusiastic, people-focused Front of House Manager to take the lead in the day-to-day running of our community pub.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hospitality, loves creating a great atmosphere and wants to have a real influence on how a pub develops and grows.
We’re a community-focused venue where everyone is welcome, and we’re looking for someone who can bring energy, ideas and a positive attitude to the role.
This is a permanent position, working Wednesday to Sunday. However, we’re also interested in hearing from people looking for temporary work, so if you’re available for a shorter period, we’d still love to hear from you.
What will you be doing?
You’ll take responsibility for the smooth running of the bar and front of house, making sure our customers receive a great experience and our team has everything they need to do their jobs well.
· Leading and supporting our team of paid staff and volunteers.
· Managing rotas, holidays and staffing levels.
· Recruiting and training new team members.
· Overseeing the day-to-day running of the bar, front of house, cellar and pub garden.
· Managing stock, ordering and working with suppliers, maintaining drink quality/pricing
· Completing monthly stock takes and keeping wastage under control.
· Working with local breweries to ensure a we offer a good choice of real ales.
· Managing the till/POS system and resolving issues when needed.
· Making sure the bar is clean, welcoming, well stocked and well presented.
· Looking after bar equipment and making sure everything is in good working order.
· Dealing confidently and positively with customer enquiries, feedback and complaints.
· Creating promotions and ideas to help drive business and increase sales.
· Working closely with the kitchen team to coordinate specials, menus, bookings and day-to-day service.
· Working with our events and live music team to promote and run events.
· Helping create an exciting programme of events and activities at the Blue Bell.
· Ensuring licensing, health and safety and security requirements are followed.
· Helping develop/maintain policies and procedures that keep the pub running smoothly.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who is friendly, organised, confident and hands-on, with a genuine passion for hospitality and people.
You’ll ideally have experience in a bar, pub, restaurant or similar hospitality management role and be comfortable taking responsibility for a busy front of house operation.
You’ll need to be able to:
· Lead a team by example.
· Create a positive and inclusive working environment.
· Stay calm and professional when things get busy.
· Deal confidently with customers and challenging situations.
· Keep on top of stock, rotas, suppliers and the practical details of running a bar.
· Use your initiative and come up with ideas to attract customers.
· Work collaboratively with the kitchen, volunteers, committee and wider Blue Bell team.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who cares about creating a great place for people to come together.
