Job Title: Digital Learning Specialist EOTA
Salary: £30,000.00 - £40,000.00 per annum
Summary of Role: We empower people and organisations through practical, inclusive digital learning. We provide professional development, qualifications, digital learning platforms and consultancy, working with leading technology providers including Google, Microsoft, Apple, AWS and CompTIA.
As an EOTAS Digital Learning Specialist, you will plan and deliver a safe, engaging and highly personalised digital skills programme for young people educated other than at school. You will use project-based learning to build confidence, digital capability, employability skills and positive attitudes to learning.
Delivery will support learners to work towards Level 1 or Level 2 Award or Certificate in Work Related Education and other similar accredited qualifications, according to the agreed programme and each learner’s starting point. You will gather robust individual evidence, maintain accurate portfolios and work closely with EOTAS staff and wider support teams to help learners engage, achieve and progress.
Key Duties
Plan and deliver the EOTAS digital skills programme through a range of project-based learning programmes.
- Deliver differentiated, project-based sessions that respond to learners’ individual starting points, additional learning needs, confidence, interests, attendance patterns and barriers to engagement.
- Create a calm, predictable and supportive learning environment, using consistent routines, clear expectations, appropriate choice and positive reinforcement.
- Deliver and assess learning towards the Level 1 and Level 2 Awards and Certificates in Work Related Education and other similar accredited qualifications, following the approved qualification requirements and internal quality processes.
- Embed digital safety, employability, enterprise, literacy, numeracy, personal development and progression throughout delivery.
- Use Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Minecraft Education, video creation tools and other appropriate technologies to support practical learning and learner choice.
- Produce clear session plans, learning resources, catch-up activities and scaffolded tasks that allow learners to re-engage following absence.
- Complete initial assessment, agree individual learning goals and review progress regularly with each learner.
- Gather valid, authentic and sufficient individual assessment evidence. This may include learner work, screenshots with annotation, workbooks, individual questioning, professional discussion and tutor observation where appropriate.
- Ensure observation is supported by additional evidence where it does not fully demonstrate the learner’s knowledge or achievement of the assessment criteria.
- Maintain accurate and timely learner records, assessment decisions, feedback, progress reviews and digital portfolios within agreed systems.
- Work closely with Caerphilly EOTAS staff, schools, and other professionals, sharing relevant progress information and responding promptly to concerns through agreed channels.
- Follow safeguarding, Prevent, health and safety, online safety, data protection, equality, diversity and Welsh language requirements at all times.
- Identify and report safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately in line with organisational and local authority procedures.
- Contribute to standardisation, internal quality assurance, programme evaluation and continuous improvement activity.
- Monitor learner engagement, achievement and progression, contributing accurate information to contract and quality reporting.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing professional development in digital learning, EOTAS practice, assessment and trauma-informed approaches.

Essential Criteria
- Minimum of five years’ relevant digital industry experience and three years’ experience within school, EOTAS, alternative provision or a closely related education setting.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering digital skills or project-based learning to young people, including learners with additional learning needs or barriers to engagement.
- TAQA or another recognised assessor qualification.
- Experience of creating a safe, supportive and motivating learning environment.
- Occupational competence in digital learning, education, learning and development or the skills sector.
- Strong practical competence in Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, with confidence in learning and applying new digital tools.
- Ability to plan differentiated learning and create accessible, engaging resources.
- Understanding of safeguarding, Prevent, online safety, equality and data protection responsibilities when working with young people.
- Ability to assess learning, give constructive feedback and maintain accurate individual learner records and portfolios.
- Ability to work collaboratively with education professionals, support services and internal quality teams.
- Strong administration, organisation and time management skills.
- Ability to work flexibly across delivery sites and respond appropriately under pressure.
Full driving license, own vehicle and willing to travel across Wales with Business Cover Insurance (A copy of your insurance will be requested upon offer)
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of delivering Agored Cymru qualifications, particularly Work Related Education at Levels 1 and 2.
- Experience of assessment planning, holistic assessment, cross-referencing evidence and internal quality assurance processes.
- Training or practical experience in trauma-informed and relationship-based practice.
- Experience of supporting learners with social, emotional, behavioural or additional learning needs.
- Relevant Microsoft, Google, Apple or other digital professional certifications.
- Ability to speak or deliver through the medium of Welsh.
Key Technologies
Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education, Minecraft Education, video creation and editing tools, Aspire360, Smart Assessor or the agreed e-portfolio system, Team8, HubSpot and other programme-specific learning and reporting platforms.
