We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our Neurodevelopmental Service at SABP.
The successful applicants must have a good honours degree in psychology and ideally some experience of working with people who have neurodevelopmental conditions. We are also looking for you to have an understanding of psychology applied to health care and an ability to apply your psychological knowledge to the neurodevelopmental health context. You must be motivated, possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work individually as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team by undertaking work with service users, carers, family members and other agencies.
There is an emphasis on the importance of clinical supervision and continued professional development, which we regard as a vital part of the delivery of care. You will be part of an innovative and dynamic team which utilises an evidence-based psychological perspective. We’ll support and encourage you to develop specialist experience and expertise, and actively encourage research with a view to publication.

You will help deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care with the Neurodevelopmental Service under the supervision of our lead psychologist for this service.
Part of your role would be to complete routine cognitive assessments to support broader formulations of the persons difficulties in addition to other clinically related activity as determined by the services changing needs.
In addition, you may also support the services capacity to provide post-diagnostic support, including delivering psychoeducation, facilitating low-intensity interventions, offering signposting etc.
Beyond direct clinical work, you will also contribute significantly to service development and quality improvement. This could include undertaking audits, analysing outcomes, supporting research activity, reviewing waiting lists, and developing patient resources.
You will receive regular supervision from our lead clinical psychologist and there are multiple opportunities to receive peer support from other assistant psychologists within the trust as well.
