Job Summary
We are offering an exciting opportunity for aspiring dog groomers or staff within a kennels, doggy daycare, pet shop, vets, hydro or rescue centre setting to undertake a comprehensive apprenticeship programme.
This is either the Level 2 apprenticeship in Dog Grooming (12 months) which includes the additional benefit of a FREE City & Guilds Level 2 qualification.
Or the Level 3 apprenticeship in Animal care (18 months) this apprenticeship is used in all the businesses other than the grooming salons.
These apprenticeships are available throughout England, NOT AVAILABLE IN WALES, SCOTLAND or N IRELAND.
This paid apprenticeship is designed to provide hands-on experience in animal care and grooming, supported by professional training in a friendly and professional environment. Dependent on the apprenticeship chosen successful candidates will develop essential skills in dog grooming, animal handling, and customer service, paving the way for a rewarding career in pet grooming and/or animal care.

Duties dependent on apprenticeship chosen-
- Assisting qualified groomers with bathing, drying, and grooming dogs of various breeds and sizes
- Eventually some trim, clip, and style coats according to breed standards and customer preferences
- Handling animals with care and compassion, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the grooming process
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of grooming equipment and work areas
- Supporting the team with general animal care tasks such as feeding, walking, and monitoring health conditions
- Providing excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners and addressing their needs
- Assisting with stock management and ensuring grooming supplies are well organised
- Participating in ongoing training sessions to develop technical skills and knowledge
- Assisting care staff within the day care, kennels, vets, pet shops, hydro and rescue centres
Qualifications
- Some Maths and English grade requirements if applicant is aged 16-18, this is explained more on application
- A genuine passion for animals and interest in animal care or dog experience is desirable
- Previous experience working with animals or in a customer service role is advantageous but not essential
- Willingness to learn new skills related to dog grooming and animal handling
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting when necessary
- Good organisational skills with an organised approach to work
- Friendly attitude with excellent communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and eager to develop a career within the pet care industry
