Altrad are currently looking for experienced Electricians to join the Maintenance Team at Huddersfield.
This role will involve working 38 Hours Monday to Friday - OT as and when required
Mobilisation Start Date is ASAP.
The position is paid in line with the NAECI Agreement, with lodge and travel payable where applicable.
Electricians to support instrumentation, LV electrical installations and containment installation works. The role will involve carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing and fault-finding activities across an industrial site environment, ensuring all works are completed safely and to the required technical and quality standards.
Key Deliverables:
- Carry out electrical installation works associated with LV systems, instrumentation and electrical containment.
- Install and modify electrical containment systems and associated cabling in accordance with drawings and project specifications.
- Support the installation of instrumentation equipment, associated cabling and electrical connections.
- Carry out installation, inspection, maintenance and testing of LV electrical plant, equipment and distribution systems.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, circuit diagrams, general arrangement drawings and technical instructions.
- Undertake fault finding, diagnosis and rectification of electrical plant, equipment and associated wiring systems.
- Carry out inspection, repair and maintenance of electrical distribution panels, transformers and associated protection devices.
- Inspect, maintain and repair industrial electrical equipment including welding equipment, generators, compressors, winches and portable electrical equipment where required.
- Carry out inspection and testing of electrical installations and equipment in accordance with project requirements.
- Complete electrical installation certificates, test documentation and associated records where appropriately qualified and authorised.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and inspection activities in accordance with site schedules.
- Use appropriate electrical test equipment, tools and machinery safely and correctly.
- Prepare work areas, materials and equipment prior to commencing electrical activities and reinstate work areas following completion.
- Work in accordance with permits to work, risk assessments, method statements, POWRA requirements and site-specific safe systems of work.
- Participate in pre-job risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are understood and implemented.
- Identify electrical defects, hazards and unsafe conditions and report or escalate them appropriately.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, defects, repairs and completed work.
- Coordinate effectively with Electrical Supervisors, Engineers and other disciplines to support safe and efficient project delivery.
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workmanship at all times.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
- Recognised Level 3 electrical qualification or apprenticeship in Electrical Installation / Electrotechnical Services.
- City & Guilds 236 Parts 1 & 2 with NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services, City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 with NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2365 Level 3, City & Guilds 2357-13 NVQ Level 3, or equivalent recognised qualification.
- City & Guilds 2382-18 Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition BS 7671).
- City & Guilds 2377-12, 2377-22 or equivalent qualification in the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
- Experience working as a qualified Electrician within an industrial, manufacturing, petrochemical, power generation, pharmaceutical, construction or heavy industrial environment.
- Experience carrying out LV electrical installation works.
- Experience with electrical containment and associated installation activities.
- Experience in fault finding, inspection, testing and maintenance of industrial electrical equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution and protection systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- Strong understanding of permits to work, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification, or equivalent.
- CompEx 01-04 certification.
- CompEx 05-06 certification.
- Experience working with instrumentation systems and associated electrical installations.
- Experience working within hazardous area environments.
- CCNSG Safety Passport.
- IOSH Working Safely.
- CSCS / ECS Card.
- Site-specific Critical Task training.
- Experience supporting shutdown, turnaround or outage projects.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
