We are looking for a highly motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic playworker to join our friendly team. At the Kidz lounge our aim is to provide high quality care, supervision and play opportunities for children attending the schools before and after school provision. The Playworker will help create a safe, stimulating and welcoming environment that supports children's wellbeing, development and enjoyment.
The Job is term time only with optional hours in our holiday club when required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Childcare and Play
Supervise children aged between 4 and 11 years in a safe, caring and positive environment.
Plan, lead and support a range of age-appropriate play activities.
Encourage children's social, emotional and physical development.
Promote positive behaviour and model respectful interactions.
Support children with routines such as snack time, transitions and end of day handovers.
Walk children safely between the infant and junior school before and after the school day.
Safety and Welfare
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.
Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately (training provided)
Carry out daily risk assessments for indoor and outdoor play areas.
Administer basic first aid if trained and required.
Team work and Communication
Work collaboratively with other playworkers and school staff.
Build positive relationships with children, parents and carers
Communicate effectively with colleagues regarding children's need, behaviour or incidents.
Contribute to maintaining a friendly, inclusive and supportive team culture.
Operational tasks
Set up and pack away resources equipment and activity areas
Maintain a clean, organized and inviting play environment.
Support with record keeping such as registers, incident/accident forms and other club logs.
Follow all club safeguarding policies including safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety and confidentiality.
Pre employment checks:
This role is subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check's (DBS). Candidates must have a valid DBS certificate in place before employment can commence.
Suitability Requirements:
Due to the nature of this role applicants must have no unspent criminal convictions. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon satisfactory background checks and a minimum of two references.
