Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home

About the Role
We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and motivated Deputy Manager to join our children’s residential home. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people, supporting a positive team culture, and maintaining high standards of care in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
Working alongside the Registered Manager and Responsible Individual, you will provide strong leadership, promote therapeutic practice, and ensure the home delivers safe, nurturing, and child-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day management of the home.
- Lead, motivate, and supervise the residential care team.
- Ensure high-quality care that promotes positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Monitor safeguarding practices and ensure statutory requirements are met.
- Complete staff supervisions, probation reviews, and annual appraisals.
- Lead shifts and provide effective decision-making during emergencies.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, care plans, risk assessments, and incident documentation.
- Support recruitment, induction, and staff development.
- Promote positive relationships with children, families, local authorities, schools, health professionals, and external agencies.
- Assist with preparing for Ofsted inspections and implementing continuous quality improvement.
- Participate in the on-call management rota.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Working towards or willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a children’s residential setting within the last 5 years.
- Experience supervising or leading staff.
- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Team Leader, Senior Residential Support Worker, or Deputy Manager.
- Knowledge of therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs.
- Experience preparing for or participating in Ofsted inspections.

Pay: £25,420.00-£42,000.00 per year
