Overview
A specialist SEND provision in Peterborough is seeking a SEND Support Worker to join their dedicated team from September. The provision follows an adapted EYFS-inspired curriculum model across all age groups, ensuring learning is personalised to developmental stage rather than chronological age.
Pupils within the setting present with a range of SEND needs including severe learning difficulties, autism, communication needs, sensory processing differences and complex developmental profiles. Learning is centred around communication, exploration, sensory experiences, social development, independence and life skills.
This is a full-time opportunity with the potential to become a permanent member of staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pupils within highly personalised learning programmes based on EYFS principles and developmental milestones.
- Deliver engaging learning opportunities that focus on communication, play, sensory exploration and independence.
- Support the implementation of EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
- Facilitate structured and child-centred activities that encourage curiosity, participation and engagement.
- Promote communication development through play, interaction and sensory learning experiences.
- Support pupils with personal development, emotional wellbeing and social skills.
- Use visual supports, sensory resources and structured routines to aid learning and transitions.
- Work alongside teachers, therapists and families to provide consistent and holistic support.
- Encourage independence through daily living activities and practical learning experiences.
- Monitor progress through observation and contribute to assessment and planning processes.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND across a range of needs.
- Good understanding of child development and EYFS principles.
- Knowledge of autism, communication needs and sensory-based learning approaches.
- Creative, nurturing and enthusiastic approach to supporting development.
- Ability to adapt activities to meet diverse learning profiles.
- Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, SEND or equivalent experience desirable.
Pay: £95.00-£105.00 per day
