What’s the role all about?
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Supervisor (Nightshift) to join our manufacturing team, based at our facility in Bury.
Working 37 hours a week, Monday to Thursday: 7.00pm to 4.45am
Overtime available and expected in line with business needs
Rate of pay: £22.22ph +nightshift premium
As a Senior Supervisor you will be responsible for providing technical advice, knowledge, assistance and intervention to ensure the safe and efficient production / operation of all plant and activities while ensuring adherence to all safe systems of work for all Fabrication activities and to work to company Health and Safety policy at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and motivate the entire production team, taking responsibility for all the manufacturing activity on site.
- Oversee and ensure procedures are adhered to for all activities of any shop floor operative involved in production activities.
- Taking the lead on People management and employee relations on the shop floor.
- Setting and monitoring KPI’s for the supervision team and shop floor.
- Ensure all fabrication, welding, logistics and loading tasks are assessed for risk and a safe system of work is in place prior to commencing work.
- Ensure plant, material and equipment is available to meet the operational demands placed upon the production team, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Provide equipment and training to new starters, apprentices and personnel on shift and ensure that people are safely trained to a competent level to complete production tasks.
- Ensure all documentation as defined in the company Health and Safety policy is in place before any Maintenance work is carried out, especially any Permits to Work.
- Communicate the activities of the production team, regularly keeping Production management, supervisors and operational staff up to date with process of activities to ensure problems are reported & resolved.
- Ensure all daily, weekly & monthly paperwork / check sheets are completed correctly and authorised.
Requirements:
- General level of education together with very strong IT skills.
- Reasonable level of working in an industrial manufacturing environment and able to demonstrate a practical application of supervisory activities.
- Ability to interpret production and logistical documentation.
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships with shop floor operatives, the production office staff and wider WHL personnel.
- Engaging communicator who can articulate themselves clearly.
- Can demonstrate a strong work ethic, is self-motivated and resilient.
- Works well using their own initiative and pays attention to detail.
- Commitment to completing deadline driven tasks and meeting the needs of the customer.
- Enthusiastic and engaging team member who will confidently contribute to the continued development of the team and wider business maintaining a positive approach when faced with challenging situations
