The Service Accountant (Adult Social Care) is a pivotal role within a local authority, tasked with delivering high-quality financial management and strategic support to Adult Social Care services. This position serves as a key advisor to service managers and senior leaders, ensuring effective budget management, financial planning, forecasting, statutory compliance, and value-for-money outcomes. The postholder will leverage financial expertise and analytical insights to support informed decision-making, contributing to the delivery of high-quality services for vulnerable residents across the borough.

Act as a trusted finance business partner to Adult Social Care budget holders and senior managers.

Provide clear, accurate, and timely financial advice to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Lead the annual budget-setting process for Adult Social Care services.

Produce regular budget monitoring reports and financial forecasts.

Identify financial risks, cost pressures, and opportunities for efficiencies.

Develop financial models to support medium- and long-term financial planning.

Analyse demographic trends, service demand patterns, and care package costs to inform financial strategies.

Significant experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Experience providing finance business partnering support to senior managers and budget holders.

Experience preparing management accounts, financial reports, and year-end financial information.

Fully qualified accountant (CCAB, CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or finalist-level candidate with substantial relevant experience.

Relevant finance, accounting, or business qualification.
