The Governors wish to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and well-qualified pastoral leader to support the progress and welfare of a cohort of students.
Ashton Community Science College is an 11-16 mixed school with over 850 pupils on roll and was rated as Good by Ofsted in the last inspection in 2023.
Our pastoral model is one where heads of year stay with their year group for a 4-year rolling cycle, from year 8 through to year 11. This vacancy arises due to the retirement of our current year 9 head of year, so the successful applicant would commence with year 10.
Our goal is to offer outstanding provision. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well qualified, pastoral member of staff, who is committed to raising standards and inspiring learners. The successful candidate will have:
- A passion for supporting and managing young people that goes beyond mere qualifications
- Previous experience of working with secondary age children in Education, Health or social services
- Experience of working with families/carers and students accessing available support services
- Knowledge of school procedures, practices and techniques for mentoring students
- Experience of dealing with emotional situations where students may become distressed
- An absolute commitment to achieving the highest of standards

This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro rata basis.
