We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Shop Floor Assistant to join our friendly, family-run manufacturing business. For over 35 years, we have proudly supplied high-quality products to local businesses and community stores, helping support the heart of our local communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You will play a key role in supporting our daily shop floor operations, assisting with assembly, equipment maintenance, warehouse activities, and ensuring production runs smoothly. This paid position offers the chance to develop valuable technical skills while working as part of a supportive, close-knit team.
Duties
- Assist with the assembly of components using hand tools and power tools, ensuring accuracy and high-quality standards are met.
- Support the setup and operation of machinery and equipment on the shop floor.
- Maintain a clean, organised workspace to promote safety and efficiency.
- Carry out routine inspections of tools, equipment, and materials, identifying any issues or defects.
- Work closely with colleagues to meet production targets and help troubleshoot minor mechanical problems.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, reporting any hazards or incidents promptly.
- Support warehouse operations, including material handling, stock replenishment, and inventory management.
Requirements
- Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to follow technical instructions.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Previous experience in assembly, manufacturing, or a warehouse environment is desirable but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move around the shop floor throughout the working day.
- Good communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing production requirements.
