We love the variety of styles and ideas, we collaborate to create with our clients but love those projects that don't necessarily follow the trends, or perhaps combine different styles to create something really unique. Wentwood serve across 3 industries from private interiors, commercial interiors & events.
Wentwood are designers & producers of joinery products from our 500m2 manufacturing facility, including design studio, machine shop, assembly & spray booth. We are a busy team looking for a spray painter ensure a smooth running facility bringing support & organisational experience to the team.
Key Main Duties & Responsibilities
The job comprises of the main areas outlined below
- Prepare components for finishing: sanding, filling, masking, de-greasing and sealing.
- Operate spray equipment (HVLP/air-assisted, conventional, or similar) to apply lacquer, polyurethane, paint, primer and other coatings.
- Mix and match colours and stain/paint systems to specifications and sample boards.
- Apply multi-coat systems, including tinting, base coats, top coats and clear finishes; manage flash/curing times.
- Inspect work for runs, orange peel, dust nibs, and other defects; perform touch-ups and reworks as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized spray booth and workshop, including proper handling and disposal of solvents and waste.
- Monitor and record batch/colour information, production notes and quality checks.
- Follow health & safety, COSHH and PPE procedures; maintain spray booth filters and equipment.
- Collaborate with production, assembly and project teams to meet delivery schedules and quality standards.
- Suggest process improvements to improve finish quality or efficiency.
Required skills for a paint sprayer role:
To succeed in this role, you will bring strong technical expertise, a proactive approach, and the ability to thrive within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a spray painter in joinery, bespoke furniture, kitchen manufacturing, or a furniture refinishing workshop.
- Strong understanding of wood substrates, MDF, lacquer systems, waterborne paints and solvent-based coatings.
- Skilled in spray techniques and colour matching; experience with HVLP and automatic spray lines advantageous.
- Excellent eye for detail and surface finish quality.
- Basic knowledge of paint mixing, viscosity, pot life and spray gun setup/adjustment.
- Ability to work from samples, technical drawings and finish specifications.
- Good time-management and ability to work to targets without sacrificing quality.
- Strong awareness of health & safety regulations (COSHH) and safe handling of chemicals.
