Overview
Pegasus Staff Services are looking for a Transport Planner / Co-ordinator to join a busy team in Derby. You will play a vital role in streamlining logistics operations to ensure efficient delivery and supply chain management. Shift pattern will rotate across 4 shifts, Monday to Friday - 0500 to 1400 / 0700 to 1600 / 1000 to 1900 / 1200 to 2100
Salary will be between £30,000 and £35,000 per annum depending on experience.
Duties
- Develop and implement transportation plans that optimize delivery routes, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Coordinate with drivers, suppliers, and clients to schedule pickups and deliveries efficiently.
- Monitor real-time transportation activities using IT systems and adjust plans as needed to address delays or issues.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, delivery schedules, and vehicle logs using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and resolve any logistical challenges promptly.
- Oversee compliance with safety regulations, driving laws, and company policies across all transportation activities.
- Lead initiatives to improve supply chain processes by analyzing data, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing innovative solutions.
Experience
- Proven management experience in logistics or transportation coordination with a strong understanding of supply chain principles.
- Familiarity with logistics software, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and IT systems used for transportation planning.
- Excellent communication skills in English to liaise effectively with team members, clients, and vendors.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-moving environment.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate complex schedules.
- Computer literacy essential for maintaining accurate records and generating reports related to transportation activities.
