Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Personal Injury Solicitor with 2 years’ PQE to join our legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of personal injury claims from inception through to resolution, providing high-quality legal advice and ensuring all client needs are met with professionalism and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of personal injury law, excellent client care skills and experience managing cases with a high degree of autonomy. Previous experience using Clio case management software is highly desirable and would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of personal injury claims from start through to settlement or litigation, ensuring matters progress efficiently and within applicable deadlines
- Advising clients on the merits, liability, quantum, evidence, procedure and prospects of their claims
- Communicating effectively with clients, insurers, medical professionals, barristers, experts, solicitors and other relevant parties
- Conducting legal research and applying relevant legislation, case law, procedural rules and practice directions
- Drafting correspondence, witness statements, pleadings, schedules of loss, settlement documentation and other legal documents with precision and clarity
- Reviewing medical evidence, liability evidence and other documentation relevant to the claim
- Negotiating with insurers and opposing solicitors to achieve appropriate settlements for clients
- Preparing matters for litigation, hearings, conferences and settlement negotiations where required
- Managing limitation dates, procedural deadlines and other key milestones effectively
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive electronic case files using Clio
- Providing regular updates to clients regarding case progress and handling enquiries professionally and promptly
- Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with the firm's policies, professional obligations and applicable legal procedures
- Maintaining accurate time recording, billing and case management records
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and contributing to the continued development of the personal injury department
Skills
- Qualified solicitor with 2 years’ PQE, with experience specialising in personal injury law
- Demonstrable experience managing a personal injury caseload with a good degree of autonomy
- Strong knowledge of personal injury claims, including liability, causation, quantum and litigation procedure
- Experience using Clio case management software
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, insurers and legal professionals
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills with excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise a busy caseload effectively
- Good IT skills and confidence using legal technology and case management systems
- Strong client care skills and a professional, approachable manner
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
- Fluency in English is essential for clear communication, legal drafting and client correspondence
