We are now looking for a Hotel Receptionist to join our dynamic team here at Mercure St Helens Hotel.
Mercure St Helens is conveniently situated in the heart of the town. The hotel is close to major transport links and boasts onsite parking, so getting to Manchester and Liverpool is easy. As well as a 24-hour front desk, onsite restaurant, and bar with BT Sports channels, Mercure St Helens features a range of leisure facilities. Each of the hotel's 84 contemporary bedrooms boasts a flat-screen TV, air-conditioning, and free Wi-Fi. For events, choose from two beautiful function spaces, the Chalon Suite and the Pyramid Suite, which can accommodate up to 300 guests comfortably. The 92 Restaurant is an ideal spot for dining, meeting friends, or relaxing, and offers a menu with something to suit every taste. For the sporting fans the Totally Wicked Stadium, home to Saint Helens Rugby Club is only a short walk from the property.

The Receptionist Role
Our front office team is the heart of the house, providing a warm welcome and happy smile, and where we strive to deliver an experience that is beyond expectation - creating memorable moments for our guests.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
As Hotel Receptionist, you will:
- Provide a courteous and efficient service to all guests and maintain the levels of service to the highest standards at all times.
- Be responsible for greeting guests in a warm friendly manner and be a true ambassador for excellent service.
- Be dealing with all requests and queries in an efficient and professional manner, whether face to face or over the telephone.
Entry Requirements
You must:
- Be passionate, motivated, welcoming and highly organised to ensure that all requests are attended to without any delays.
- Be well presented, have excellent communication skills and a pleasant telephone manner.
- Work well under pressure with excellent ability to co-ordinate efficiently with other departments and bring good administration skills.
- Reception experience is essential, either in a hotel, airline or corporate background
- Event coordinating experience is preferred, not essential
- An energetic approach that shines through in your work
- A team focused attitude
- A natural passion and desire to make every visitor smile
- A committed attitude and dedication to creating a memorable guest experience
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Experience using email and Microsoft packages
- Excellent personal presentation
We anticipate applicants will have previous experience as Hotel Receptionist and will have worked in a similar role within a hotel environment
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
- Attend to all incoming calls via the switchboard in a professional and polite manner, constantly striving to provide Total Customer Satisfaction.
- Maintain strict security procedures to ensure guest confidentiality and safety
- Provide quality service to the customer by responding to their requests promptly, efficiently and courteously during check-in, check-out and throughout their stay.
- Maintain control of guest and hotel accounts ensuring that all charges are accurate and posted on a timely basis.
- Maintain strict security procedures with credit transactions, accounting procedures, issue of room keys and guest confidentiality/privacy
- Maintain communication channels between Hotel guests and all Hotel departments both verbally and in writing as required.
- Operate switchboard effectively, handling all calls promptly and professionally, greeting all callers according to Mercure policy and transfer all calls to relevant departments responding to requests quickly and efficiently.
- Document accurately all internal and guest messages. Distribute according to specified Hotel procedure.
- Use every opportunity to promote hotel facilities and maximise sales through sound product knowledge and selling skills.
- Attend to other duties like hosting breakfast as requested by Management and Supervisors
