Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Breakdown Recovery Driver to join our team. This role involves providing prompt assistance to vehicles in distress, ensuring safe recovery and transportation. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, mechanical knowledge, and excellent communication abilities to deliver exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to breakdown calls and assist stranded motorists with professionalism and courtesy
- Operate recovery vehicles, including flatbed lorries, in compliance with all safety regulations
- Safely load, secure, and transport damaged or immobilised vehicles to designated locations or repair facilities
- Conduct basic mechanical assessments of vehicles when necessary and report any issues to the appropriate personnel
- Maintain accurate records of recoveries performed, including details of the incident and vehicle condition
- Ensure all recovery equipment is maintained in good working order and conduct routine safety checks on the vehicle
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams, clients, and other stakeholders regarding recovery status and ETA
Skills
- Proven experience in driving, particularly as a recovery or delivery driver
- Strong driving skills with a valid driver’s licence and experience operating flatbed lorries
- Mechanical knowledge to assess vehicle conditions and perform basic troubleshooting when required
- Previous warehouse or logistics experience is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with customers, team members, and emergency services
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently in various weather conditions
- Familiarity with using recovery equipment such as winches, straps, and other tools necessary for vehicle recovery
