This is an office-based role, with the possibility of hybrid working arrangements after one year of service.
The position is full-time, although we are happy to consider applications from candidates looking to work 30 hours or more per week, offering some flexibility for the right person.
We are a friendly firm of Chartered Accountants based in Leicester. We are highly regarded by our clients and offer a client-focused accountancy and tax service. Our client base is diverse and includes sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
We are seeking a candidate with at least three years of continuous experience in an accountancy practice, who can hit the ground running.
This is a hands-on role and the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of accountancy and taxation work, including liaising directly with clients. The ideal candidate will have strong understanding of personal and corporate taxation, double entry bookkeeping, good Excel skills and experience with accounting packages such as Tax Calc, IRIS Elements, Xero, FreeAgent, QuickBooks and VT Transactions.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Bookkeeping: Responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual bookkeeping tasks for clients. Ensuring that all financial records are accurately maintained and up to date.
- Accounts production: Preparing and reviewing sole trader, partnership and limited company accounts. Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and that accounts are ready for final sign-off by the firm Director.
- Tax returns: Preparing VAT returns, corporation tax returns and personal tax returns for clients.
- Payroll: Processing payroll (including RTI submissions and payslip distribution) and monthly CIS returns for clients. Handling any payroll issues and ensuring all filings and submissions are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Resolving matters: Liaising with HMRC, Companies House and other relevant organisations on behalf of clients and the firm.
