The role
You will support the firm's New Business and Business Development teams, providing high‑quality research and data insight to help identify, target and win new clients. Working closely with senior members of the legal and lead origination teams, you will play a key role in shaping business development campaigns and supporting national events.
This role offers a unique insight into how a commercial law firm operates, particularly in corporate transactions. You will work alongside legal teams to understand their practices, markets and growth opportunities, building strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how client relationships are developed and sustained.
The person
You will be a degree graduate (law preferred), an undergraduate seeking a year in industry, or an A‑level candidate with a minimum of 120 UCAS points (B, B, B). You'll have a genuine interest in business, current affairs and industry trends, and enjoy working with data and research.
You'll be organised, proactive and comfortable juggling multiple deadlines, with strong Excel and MS Office skills. Confident, professional and collaborative, you'll thrive in a people‑centric environment and be keen to go the extra mile. Experience with research tools (eg, Onesource, Corpfin, BvD databases and Thomson Financial Products) is helpful but not essential.
This is an excellent opportunity to build commercial awareness, analytical skills and real‑world experience in a supportive, high‑performing team.
The activities
You will:
Research and identify prospective clients and key contacts, qualifying leads and maintaining accurate activity records
Produce company briefing notes, credentials and sector‑specific marketing materials
Conduct focused desktop research using public records, AI tools, press searches and commercial databases
Provide insights on company financials, ownership, market position, competitors and management
Support firmwide business development projects, including marketing campaigns and events
Assist with research projects for lawyers, marketing reports and new business initiatives
Attend networking events and engage with businesses and advisers as a representative of the firm
Coordinate and track business development campaigns and data.
We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
