Overview
An exciting opportunity has come up for a young, talented Chef at the West Highland Way Cafe. We are looking to employ someone who we can work with to come up with a fantastic and exciting new evening menu. We have been open now for 2 years and whilst the business has been amazing we have higher aspirations of now opening in the evenings and giving Milngavie the local homemade, good food that it deserves. The job will entail mostly evening work with the main nights of service being Wednesday-Saturday. The right candidate will be able to work on their own as well as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every plate.
- Assist in the development of new menu items and improve existing recipes to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of your designated section, adhering strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Support the training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff, promoting a collaborative team environment.
- Monitor stock levels within your section, report shortages, and assist with inventory management to minimize waste.
- Ensure all food preparation meets safety standards and complies with health regulations at all times.
- Serve dishes efficiently during busy service times while maintaining a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, meal preparation, and kitchen safety protocols.
- Hands-on experience with food safety standards and hygiene practices essential for maintaining a clean kitchen environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively during peak hours.
- Previous restaurant experience demonstrating proficiency in serving dishes promptly while ensuring quality.
- Passion for culinary arts with a desire to learn new skills and grow within the hospitality industry.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
