Job Description:
As a Support Worker, you will work with service users who may require enhanced support due to learning disabilities, autism, and distressing behaviors. You will assist individuals who also have physical health needs, such as catheters and diabetes. Your role will involve providing both day and overnight support to help improve the lives of those we care for.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support and assistance to individuals with autism and learning disabilities.
- Support individuals with physical health needs, including personal care (e.g., catheters and diabetes management).
- Help manage and reduce distressing behaviors through positive behavior support.
- Encourage independence and engage in meaningful activities with service users.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with individuals to ensure their well-being.
- Assist with monitoring health conditions and provide personal care as needed.
- Work within a team to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Support Worker (preferably with at least one year of experience).
- Experience working with individuals who have autism and learning disabilities is desirable.
- Ability to work with individuals with challenging behaviors and physical health needs.
- On the DBS Update list is desirable.
- Positive, enthusiastic, and compassionate approach to care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including weekends.
