The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our busy team as a Trainee Surveyor (no experience necessary); ideal for someone looking for a new opportunity with support & training provided.
This role involves carrying out a range of surveying activities for which on the job training will be provided, including Topographic, River, Confined Space, Drone, Hydrographic, Laser Scanning, Monitoring, Service Tracing, Building & Engineering Surveys for a diverse range of clients.
You will travel to sites throughout the UK & assist in carrying out surveys. In time, this role may include training in processing & collating survey data using AutoCAD & relevant software in order to deliver clear & accurate survey outputs to clients.
The base location for this role will be either our Ottery St Mary Head Office in East Devon or our Plympton Office. Work is throughout SW England & beyond, meaning some of the work can involve early starts & may require overnight stays. There will also be occasions where you will work from home processing data.
Responsibilities
Our work is varied, outdoors & physical so would suit someone who is happy to work outside in all weathers. This is a role with lots of site work; you could find yourself working in a variety of environments (including watercourses, roads & tunnels). Much of the site work involves walking, carrying equipment & operating survey equipment so you need to be physically fit. Most of our work is in the South West but we do work nationally so there can be early starts and overnight stays.
Work is generally in pairs or small teams of up to 4 people so an ability to work in a small group with a positive & proactive attitude is what we are looking for in this role. Also a willingness to contribute ideas & show initiative with an ability to follow instructions.
Essential Requirements
· Educated to GCSE level with minimum Grade 4 (or C) in Maths & English
· Full clean UK Driving license & have your own vehicle
· Able to swim 50 metres
· Able to pass random Drug & Alcohol tests as required when working on sites
· Able to stay away from home overnight if necessary
· Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions carrying equipment
· Good IT & communication skills
· Attention to detail & problem-solving skills
