Entry Grade
For ST4 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in General Adult Psychiatry and must be ST4 at post start date
Or
Must complete a separate standard clinical application to General Adult Psychiatry ST4 national recruitment (called Clinical Benchmarking) and attend an assessment/interview for General Adult Psychiatry in 2026 and be found appointable.
For ST5 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in General Adult Psychiatry and must be ST5 at post start date
For ST6 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in General Adult Psychiatry and must be ST6 at post start date
Applicants must have at least 12 calendar months remaining to CCT completion at the advertised post start date. Applicants with less than 12 months to CCT completion at the advertised post start date are not eligible.
Important information about training grades
Please note that the grade/s advertised are the grade/s at post start date. This means that applicants must be eligible to train at the advertised grade/s at the start date of the post.
Please be aware that trainees are not permitted to repeat training for the purposes of taking up a CL post and trainees are not permitted to start at a grade that is not advertised.
As an example, if a post is advertised at ST3 grade, then a current ST3 trainee who is on track to become an ST4 trainee at the post start date would NOT under any circumstances be permitted to take up the CL post at ST3 grade as this would entail repeating training that has already been completed. If you are in receipt of an ARCP at the grade you are applying to, you will not be eligible for that grade.
If you are in any doubt as to your eligibility, please submit a query via our applicant enquiries portal below.
General Information
This award is for completion of CCT/ CESR (CP) subject to satisfactory progression.
Applicants must have at least 12 calendar months remaining to CCT completion at the advertised post start date. Applicants with less than 12 months to CCT completion at the advertised post start date are not eligible.
Fitness to Practice
If you have made a positive declaration in the FTP section, you must complete the Fitness to Practise (FTP) Declaration Form and provide details to the UCL application local HR team (contact details below).
Failure to provide the outlined information by the close of application may result in your application being withdrawn.
Please note that declaring a fitness‑to‑practise matter does not automatically preclude progression in the recruitment process.
