Tungsten West is restarting the world-class Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin Mine in South Devon and is looking for an experienced Mobile Plant Shift Supervisor to lead maintenance activities across our mining fleet.
This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring mobile plant is maintained safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, supporting the successful restart and operation of one of the world's largest tungsten resources.

About the Role
Reporting into the Maintenance Team, you will supervise shift-based maintenance activities across a range of heavy mobile equipment, ensuring maximum equipment availability, reliability and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise planned and breakdown maintenance on:
- Haul trucks
- Excavators
- Loading shovels
- Dozers
- Graders
- Support equipment
- Coordinate maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
- Prioritise workloads based on operational requirements.
- Lead and support fitters, technicians and auto electricians.
- Conduct toolbox talks, shift briefings and safety inspections.
- Ensure compliance with permit-to-work, isolation and safety procedures.
- Support fault diagnosis, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Operations, Planning and Stores teams.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems.
- Deliver effective shift handovers and communicate equipment status.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Proven experience maintaining heavy mobile plant within mining, quarrying or heavy industry.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of equipment such as:
- Caterpillar
- Komatsu
- Hitachi
- Volvo
- Experience with preventative maintenance and fault finding.
- Strong understanding of health and safety within high-risk environments.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and breakdown situations.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
- IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
- Experience using CMMS systems such as SAP, Pronto or Maximo.
- High Voltage or Auto Electrical experience.
- First Aid qualification.
