Overview
We are seeking a Trainee who is interested in joining a small fast growing artisan breakfast company based in Uley, Gloucestershire to bake granola, muesli, granola bars and fruit porridge.
The ideal candidate will have experience in food hygiene and want to train to gain their Apprenticeship Level 2 in Food Production. They also need to be reliable, eager to learn, a great team player, good at following instructions, have a genuine interest in baking and/or food production and preparation, basic IT knowledge and possess great customer service skills.
This role is pivotal in ensuring high standards of luxury breakfast products and food quality, safety, and presentation while also getting involved in developing new products.
Responsibilities
- To prepare and bake a range of luxury breakfast products working independently and end maintaining consistency of quality
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food production and preparation processes.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with industry regulations.
- Carry out ingredients and product stock takes
- Assist in the development of new products and carry out market research
- A team player who will support colleagues to achieve baking and delivery deadlines, supporting when and where required
- Confident to speak to wholesale and online customers on the phone and via email
- Receive training, development and mentoring to support you in achieving Level 2 Food Production
- Learn all aspects of food production - full training provided
- Learn HACCP food regulations and practice these and best practice daily.
- Assist in inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and used safely.
Requirements
- A passion for food, ingredients and baking
- Some experience working in food hygiene environment
- A strong will to learn, receive training and support to achieve an Apprenticeship
- Experience in a commercial kitchen would be preferable but not essential
- Culinary skills in cooking, baking, and food preparation techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Excellent organisational skills would be advantageous
- A good communicator who works well in a team and demonstrates good time management
- Someone who has access to their own transport
