Dragon Security & Electrical Ltd is looking for a Security Systems Apprentice to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career within the electronic security industry while earning a wage and gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers, learning how to install, service and maintain a wide range of electronic security systems for domestic, commercial and industrial customers.
No previous experience is required – just the right attitude, willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.
What you'll be doing
Working with our engineers, you will learn to:
- Install, maintain and fault-find electronic security systems.
- Assist with CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and fire alarm systems.
- Install containment, cabling and security equipment using hand and power tools.
- Configure and commission network-connected security equipment.
- Read technical drawings, wiring diagrams and system layouts.
- Test systems to ensure they operate correctly and meet customer requirements.
- Carry out preventative maintenance and servicing.
- Complete job documentation accurately using our digital job management system.
- Follow company procedures and health & safety requirements at all times.
- Deliver excellent customer service while representing Dragon professionally on site.
As your experience grows, you'll become more involved in commissioning systems, fault diagnosis and working independently on customer sites.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Enthusiastic and eager to learn.
- Practical with good problem-solving skills.
- Reliable, punctual and well organised.
- Friendly with good communication skills.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in different environments.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Interested in technology, electronics or engineering.
Essential
- Full, clean UK Driving Licence.
- Willingness to attend college on a block-release basis (approximately one week in every eight).
- A positive attitude and commitment to completing the apprenticeship.
Desirable
- Experience using hand tools or power tools.
- Construction, engineering or electrical experience (not essential).
- Basic IT or networking knowledge.
