Job Description:
The HGV Dust Cart Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) dust cart used for the collection and transportation of waste and recyclables. The role requires adherence to road traffic laws, health and safety regulations, and company procedures while working as part of a waste collection team.
SHIFT START TIMES - 40 HOUR PER WEEK
05:00AM @ £17.73 p/h
13:00PM @ £19.08 p/h
WITH PAID HOLIDAY LEAVE
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate an HGV dust cart on assigned collection routes
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects or maintenance issues
- Assist with loading and unloading of waste when required
- Ensure waste is collected and transported in accordance with environmental regulations
- Follow all traffic laws, site rules, and company health & safety policies
- Work effectively with loaders and supervisors to complete routes efficiently
- Maintain accurate records, including vehicle checks and route documentation
- Ensure the vehicle and work areas are kept clean and tidy
- Provide a professional and courteous service to the public
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid HGV (Class 2 / Category C) driving licence
- Valid Driver CPC qualification
- Digital tachograph card
- Good knowledge of road safety and driving regulations
- Previous experience driving HGVs preferred (dust cart experience an advantage but not essential)
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and shifts as required
- Physically fit and able to assist with manual tasks if needed
