At Today’s Tomorrow, we are expanding and are excited to offer two new full-time opportunities for Residential Child Care Workers to join our growing team on day shift and night shift. We are a supportive organisation that values growth and actively supports and invests in your development and long term career progression.
As part of our team, you will build meaningful and trusting relationships with children and young people who live away from home. Some children and young people may present with challenging behaviours, so we are looking for individuals who are emotionally resilient, patient, and passionate about helping children and young people make positive life choices.
You will play a key role in supporting daily routines, promoting stability, and ensuring that every child and young person feels safe, respected, and cared for.
Key Responsibilities -
Supporting Children and Young People
- Build strong, positive relationships based on trust and respect
- Support emotional wellbeing and encourage positive behaviour
- Promote independence and life skills development
- Act as a consistent and reliable role model
Daily Care and Routine
- Support daily routines including waking, meals, activities, and bedtime
- Assist with education, appointments, and structured activities
- Encourage participation in hobbies, social activities, and community engagement
- Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment
Safeguarding and Safety
- Maintain a safe and secure environment at all times
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures
- Respond appropriately to incidents and challenging behaviour
- Record and report all relevant information accurately
Teamwork and Communication
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals
- Contribute to care planning and review meetings
- Maintain clear and professional communication at all times
- Support a positive and inclusive team culture
What we’re looking for:
- A minimum of 1 year’s experience in residential childcare (desirable)
- SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People), or equivalent
- A good understanding of residential childcare practices
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Emotionally resilient, patient, and reliable
- Genuine passion for supporting and empowering children and young people
Shift Pattern
You will work a structured rota designed to support a strong work/life balance:
12 hour day shifts (8:00am – 8:00pm)
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday
- Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
