SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism & Complex Needs UES1

We are looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join a fantastic specialist school in Godalming (GU7) this September.
This specialist school supports children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex learning needs. Many pupils are non-verbal and communicate using a range of alternative communication methods including PECS, Makaton, visual timetables and AAC devices.
The school provides a calm, structured and nurturing environment where every pupil is supported to reach their full potential.
Your Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small classes.
- Encourage communication using visual supports, PECS, Makaton and other communication systems.
- Help pupils access learning through personalised activities.
- Support sensory regulation throughout the school day.
- Promote independence, confidence and social interaction.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- Implement positive behaviour support strategies.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and parents to ensure the best outcomes for every child.
We Are Looking For
- Experience working with children or adults with Autism, complex needs or learning disabilities (preferred but not essential).
- A calm, patient and compassionate nature.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
