Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented mechanic/MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections in accordance with legal requirements, ensuring vehicles meet the necessary standards for roadworthiness. Responsibilities
- Conduct MOT tests on a variety of vehicle makes and models in accordance with legal and company standards
- Perform thorough inspections of vehicle components including brakes, suspension, lights, tyres, and exhaust systems
- Identify faults or issues requiring repair or further investigation and document findings accurately
- Ensure all testing procedures are completed efficiently within designated timeframes
- Maintain accurate records of each vehicle inspection in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assist with general vehicle maintenance tasks as needed, including minor repairs and adjustments
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols during all testing procedures
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand vehicle systems and components
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and manoeuvring vehicles or parts as required
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure thorough inspections and accurate reporting
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple inspections efficiently
- Ability to work independently whilst maintaining high standards of safety and quality assurance
