BAR MANAGER VACANCY – SALTY OLIVE, WOKINGHAM
Pay: £28,000-£30,000 + service charge
Contract: 45 hours per week
Workdays: Wednesday to Sunday (subject to change)
Holidays: 28 days inclusive of bank holidays
Start date: September 2026

Job Description
We are looking for a driven, confident and enthusiastic Bar Manager with a passion for hospitality and delivering an excellent customer experience.
You will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the bar, working closely with the management team to lead, motivate and develop a high-performing and happy team.
As Bar Manager, you will ensure our guests consistently receive friendly, efficient service while maintaining high standards across drinks quality, presentation, cleanliness and overall bar operations.
You will play an important role in developing our drinks offering, including our Spanish wines, beers, spirits and cocktails, while helping us create the relaxed, lively atmosphere Salty Olive is known for.
Your responsibilities will include
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the bar
- Leading, motivating and supporting the bar and front-of-house team
- Delivering consistently high standards of customer service
- Training and developing team members
- Maintaining excellent standards of drinks preparation and presentation
- Helping develop cocktails and the wider drinks menu
- Managing bar stock, ordering and stock control
- Monitoring wastage and helping achieve agreed cost and margin targets
- Ensuring the bar is clean, organised and fully prepared for service
- Supporting busy restaurant services, events and live entertainment evenings
- Ensuring licensing, health & safety and food hygiene requirements are followed
- Handling customer queries professionally and helping create a welcoming atmosphere
- Working closely with the owners, management team and kitchen to ensure the smooth running of the business
Skills and experience required
- Previous bar or hospitality experience
- Supervisory or management experience preferred
- A genuine passion for hospitality and great customer service
- Good knowledge of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails
- Confident leading and motivating a team
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Knowledge of stock management and drink costings would be beneficial
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, hands-on and comfortable leading from the front
- A committed and supportive team player
