Visitor Services Cafe - Temporary to cover Summer Holiday Period (£12.79 per hour)
6th July - 13th Sept 2026
40hrs per week, 8.30am - 5pm on a rota, including weekends and bank holidays
Main Duties
- Working in the Bear Falls Café; preparing a lunch and snack menu
- Serving customers via the electronic till system taking money and card payments
- Serving food and drinks from our satellite food kiosk located inside the Zoo which is open during high season.
- Maintaining the presentation of the Bear Falls Café and soft play area.
Job Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking food, using fryers and ovens.
- Taking customer orders and operating the electronic till, taking money and card payments
- Making hot drinks using the coffee machine
- Keeping the cafe clean and tidy; clearing and cleaning tables, washing floors and emptying the recycling waste areas.
- Restocking fridges and self-service displays regularly.
- Manual washing up of cooking pots, trays and pans
- Keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy and carrying out a cleaning rota.
- Aiding with stock deliveries.
- Providing excellent customer service to our guests
- Working in the Zoo Gift Shop as and when required
General
- Full driver's license and access to vehicle required due to rural setting of zoo
- Be aware of and adhere to Zoo policies at all times
- Be aware of and adhere to Food hygiene and health & safety policies at all times
- Cooperate with other Zoo departments
Skills & Experience
- Previous food and beverage experience preferred including experience of food preparation
- Capable of working independently with little supervision
- Good verbal communication skills are essential
- Must be hands on and be able to do any task that is needed to be performed
- Must have a driver's license to be able to work at the Zoo as relying on public transport is not appropriate for our location.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a team
- Ability to work calmly at our exceptionally busy periods
