Are you someone who loves cooking up a storm in the kitchen? Perhaps you've trained as a chef, run supper clubs, taught cookery classes, or you're simply the friend everyone asks for recipes. Would you feel at home guiding a group of hobbyists through a fun, relaxed cooking or baking session, all from your own kitchen? If so, this may be the perfect role for you.
Why HobbyHour exists:
Forget expensive classes and long-term commitments. At HobbyHour, we believe everyone should be able to try something new - without the barriers that usually get in the way.HobbyHour is a live, online hobby platform designed to bring a bit more happiness into people's weeks. We swap intimidating instructions and expensive equipment lists for approachable, feel-good sessions that leave people proud of what they've done - even if it's their very first go.
Our sessions bring people out of their routines and into a warm, welcoming community built around curiosity - and this is just the beginning.
Who we're looking for:
We're looking for the right person to host our Cooking & Baking sessions and bring them to life. We're not looking for Michelin-trained chefs. We're looking for a warm, engaging communicator who can make people feel confident in their own kitchen. You'll be someone who is:
- Warm, encouraging and easy to watch on camera
- Comfortable guiding a group through a recipe, step by step, in real time
- Confident using video-call technology and troubleshooting on the fly
- Genuinely passionate about cooking, baking or food
- Able to design your own simple, engaging session plans and recipes
You might have a background in:
- Home cooking and baking
- Culinary training, hospitality or catering
- Cookery teaching, workshops or community classes
You don't need experience across every background listed above - one or two is plenty, but of course, it’s a plus if you have more. Passion always trumps formal training: you don't need to have trained at culinary school to be one of our Hosts. If you love cooking and love sharing that with others, you'll fit right in.
What you'll be doing:
As a HobbyHour Cooking & Baking Host, you'll:
- Host live, online sessions for groups of hobbyists
- Design your own makes n’ bakes, content and session plans for each class
- Create a relaxed, judgement-free space where everyone feels able to get stuck in
- Keep your energy up and your instructions clear, even without constant live feedback
- Be a reliable, familiar face your hobbyists look forward to seeing each week
- Help shape the culture and content of HobbyHour's Cooking & Baking community as it grows
What's on offer:
- Freelance contract role
- £40 per hour of hosting.
- You would be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance as a self-employed individual and for designing your own content (and session plans) to deliver to our hobbyists.
- Flexible scheduling, Monday to Sunday, based on your availability
- Ongoing sessions for up to 52 weeks of the year - we're looking for a long-term commitment
- Full support provided
- The chance to be part of something genuinely special from the early days
