We are currently recruiting Cover Supervisors and supply Cover Teachers to work across a range of secondary schools in Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland . This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced support staff, youth workers, sports coaches, or individuals with experience working with young people.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of the regular teacher, ensuring pupils remain on task and complete the work that has been set.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering pre-prepared work across a variety of subjects.
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Supervising pupils and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Providing support and guidance to students where required.
- Reporting back to teaching staff on pupil progress and behaviour.
- Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
This is a general cover role, meaning you may supervise lessons across a range of subjects rather than teaching within a specific specialism.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence managing groups of students in a classroom setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills.
- A proactive, professional and flexible approach.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
