APPRENTICE IT TECHNICIAN
Our growing Leeds-based managed services provider is looking for a motivated Apprentice IT Technician to join our friendly technical team.
This is a junior, entry-level position, so professional IT experience is not required. We are looking for a genuine technology enthusiast who enjoys solving problems, learning new skills and helping people. Experience building, upgrading or repairing PCs would be beneficial.
You will gain practical experience across a wide range of technologies while supporting customers, preparing equipment and assisting with technical projects. If you would like to begin your career on the frontline of IT and learn from an experienced team, we would love to hear from you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Service Desk with day-to-day support activities, including logging, triaging, updating, escalating and resolving customer tickets within agreed timescales.
- Prepare and configure new desktops and laptops for customers.
- Diagnose and repair customer devices.
- Install Windows, drivers and applications using custom deployment images through Windows Deployment Services.
- Use Microsoft 365 and Windows Autopilot to configure Microsoft Entra ID-joined devices.
- Use Microsoft Intune to deploy policies, applications and automated configurations.
- Assist the Projects team with cloud migrations, cybersecurity audits, VoIP systems, Wi-Fi, broadband and firewall installations.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of completed work.
- Visit customer sites when required.
You will receive training, guidance and support as you develop within the role.
QUALIFICATIONS
- GCSE English and Mathematics, or equivalent.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A positive attitude and genuine willingness to learn.
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
No professional IT experience is required. However, we would particularly like to hear from candidates who:
- Have a strong personal interest in technology.
- Enjoy building, upgrading or repairing PCs.
- Have experimented with home networks, servers, virtual machines or cloud services.
- Can explain technical information clearly and patiently.
- Are organised, dependable and comfortable working as part of a team.
Previous MSP or customer-service experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
TECHNOLOGIES YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will build practical experience across a broad range of business technologies, including:
- Microsoft cloud: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Defender.
- Networking: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPNs, VLANs, firewalls, routers, broadband and leased lines.
- Windows Server: Windows Server 2016–2025, Active Directory, Group Policy, NTFS permissions and shared folders.
- Backup and disaster recovery: Acronis and Veeam.
- Virtualisation: Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware ESXi.
- Remote monitoring and management: Atera.
- Professional services automation: HaloPSA.
- VoIP: 3CX.
