Role: Experienced Steel Burner
Location: Ebenezer Street, Birkenhead
Hours: 42.75 per week, Monday to Friday - Day shift
Salary: Potential earnings from £37,971 per annum, depending on experience
We are looking for an experienced Steel Burner to join our established team at our busy metal recycling site in Birkenhead. You will be responsible for safely cutting and processing different grades and sizes of scrap steel. This is a practical, outdoor role involving manual work, so previous steel burning experience is essential.
- Cutting and processing various types of scrap steel
- Using burning and cutting equipment safely and efficiently
- Preparing materials for further processing
- Inspecting equipment and reporting faults or defects
- Carrying out banksman and FLT duties where trained and authorised
- Supporting general recycling and yard operations when required
- Working closely with colleagues to maintain an efficient workflow
- Following all environmental and health and safety procedures
- Keeping the working area clean, safe and organised
Essential:

Previous experience working as a Steel Burner, Scrap Metal Burner or in a similar role
- Competent and confident using steel burning and cutting equipment
- Good understanding of safe working practices
- Comfortable working outdoors in a busy industrial environment
- Reliable, hardworking and able to follow instructions
- Physically able to undertake manual work
