Patient Coordinator at North Cardiff Dental & Implants
Full-time | Rhiwbina, Cardiff | £14–£16 per hour, dependent on experience and extra qualifications
Passionate about dentistry. Passionate about patients.
Experienced dental nurse? Ready to swap the chair for the front desk?
We're looking for a qualified, GDC-registered dental nurse with solid clinical grounding, ideally a few years post-qualification, ready to bring that knowledge to the front of house. This is a genuine step up: the role is predominantly desk-based, using everything you know about dentistry to guide patients through their treatment and options, including higher-value treatment plans, with confidence. You'll occasionally be asked to help with nursing duties too, and we'll train you to our own standards.
For many of our patients, this is one of the biggest decisions they'll make, both emotionally and financially, and how they're looked after really matters to us. You'll need to be brilliant with people: able to talk to anyone, put the most anxious patient at ease, and be a genuinely reassuring, listening presence for those who need it.
Outside of the surgery, the patient journey is yours. From the first phone call to the moment they leave, it's your job to make sure every part of their experience is second to none, right down to the smallest detail. You'll have the trust and freedom to manage your own day, with a close-knit team around you when you need them, spotting what needs doing and taking the initiative, whether the practice is buzzing or quiet.
What you'll be doing
- Owning the patient journey outside of the surgery: every touchpoint, every detail, from first enquiry to follow-up
- Running the desk and diary as the first point of contact for every patient, in person and on the phone
- Talking patients through their treatment plans and costs with confidence and warmth, helping them make well-informed decisions, never a hard sell
- Being the calm, reassuring presence for anxious patients, taking the time to listen and put people at ease
- Owning the day-to-day admin: correspondence, records, patient plans, and liaising with the clinical team
- Keeping the practice to impeccable standards of cleanliness and presentation, front and back of house
- Managing your own workload proactively and using good judgement day to day
- Occasionally supporting the clinical team with nursing duties when needed (full training provided)
What we're looking for
Essential:
- A qualified, GDC-registered dental nurse with solid, general clinical knowledge
- Excellent with people: someone who can talk to anyone and put nervous patients at ease
- Self-motivated, trustworthy, and happy working independently
- Highly organised with high personal standards and a meticulous eye for detail
- Warm, professional, and a genuinely good listener
Nice to have (we'll help you build these if they're new to you):
- Knowledge of implant dentistry specifically, we're happy to teach this
- Confidence discussing significant treatment costs and comfortable with the sales side of the role
- Previous experience in a reception, treatment coordination, or admin-heavy role
Who you are matters more to us than ticking every box. If you think this could be you, even if you're not sure, apply anyway.
