Engineering Manager – PSV/HGV Workshop

Salary: Up To £77,650 per annum
Hours: Day Shift | Monday to Friday
We are a leading London bus operator seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to take full responsibility for our PSV/HGV workshop in South East London. This is a senior leadership role, ideal for a driven engineering professional with a strong background in fleet maintenance, compliance, and people management.
Engineering Manager - The Role
As Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the workshop, ensuring fleet availability meets operational requirements while maintaining the highest engineering standards.
Engineering Manager - Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the PSV/HGV engineering team, including supervisors, technicians, and support staff
- Ensure full compliance with DVSA, TfL, and operator licence requirements
- Oversee preventative maintenance, inspections, and defect rectification
- Manage workshop performance, KPIs, costs, and engineering budgets
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, reliability, and efficiency
- Liaise with operations and senior management to support service delivery
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure audit readiness
Engineering Manager - About You
- Proven experience in a senior engineering management role within a PSV and/or HGV environment
- Strong working knowledge of DVSA standards, operator compliance, and safety legislation
- Recognised engineering qualifications (e.g. HNC/HND or equivalent)
- CPC qualification (or willingness to obtain) desirable
- Confident leader with excellent communication and people management skills
- Organised, commercially aware, and solutions-focused
