Islander UK
Islander is a fast-growing Scottish accessories and lifestyle brand, known for combining contemporary design with Harris Tweed® and tartan. We sell through our own retail stores, e-commerce website and a global network of over 800 stockists, alongside our popular handbag-making workshop experiences. As the business continues to expand across the UK and internationally, strengthening our online performance is a key priority.
The opportunity
Islander is looking for an E-commerce & Digital Growth Manager to take ownership of our online sales performance and digital customer journey. This is a commercially focused, hands-on role for someone who can turn products, launches and marketing activity into measurable online revenue.
You will manage and improve our Shopify websites, plan digital marketing activity, lead online merchandising and use customer and performance data to increase conversion, average order value and repeat purchases. You will work closely with marketing, design, retail, customer service and IT, while remaining clearly accountable for e-commerce performance.
Key responsibilities
E-commerce growth and performance
· Own online sales performance and deliver agreed revenue and growth targets.
· Build and manage the e-commerce trading calendar across product launches, seasonal opportunities, promotions, collaborations and key commercial dates.
· Monitor revenue, traffic, conversion rate, average order value, customer acquisition, repeat purchases and email-attributed revenue.
· Analyse performance by product, collection, campaign, customer segment and market, turning findings into clear actions.
· Identify and test opportunities to improve conversion, basket value, retention and the overall customer journey.
· Provide concise weekly and monthly performance reporting, explaining results, priorities and recommended next steps.
Website management and merchandising
· Manage the day-to-day operation, accuracy and commercial presentation of Islander’s Shopify websites.
· Maintain products, collections, navigation, landing pages, promotional content, pricing and product information.
· Merchandise the website around bestsellers, stock availability, launches, seasonal activity and commercial priorities.
· Improve product discovery, search, cross-selling, upselling and related-product journeys.
· Ensure campaigns and new products launch accurately, consistently and on schedule.
· Improve mobile usability, accessibility, site speed and brand consistency across the customer journey.
· Complete routine Shopify theme, Liquid, HTML and CSS changes, working with IT or external developers on complex technical requirements.
· Monitor website functionality and resolve or escalate issues promptly.
Digital marketing and customer retention
· Plan and deliver digital campaigns designed to generate qualified traffic and online sales.
· Manage email marketing campaigns, segmentation, newsletters and automated customer journeys.
· Coordinate campaign content and creative requirements with the marketing and design teams.
· Support organic social and content planning where it contributes to website traffic, customer engagement and revenue.
· Work with external agencies or specialists on paid search and paid social where required.
· Ensure campaigns are tracked correctly and evaluate their commercial return.
SEO and digital visibility
· Improve organic visibility through on-page and technical SEO, metadata, internal linking and structured content.
· Optimise product, collection and landing pages for customers, search engines and emerging AI-led discovery.
· Develop useful website content, FAQs and buying guides based on customer needs and search demand.
· Monitor Search Console, organic traffic, search visibility and revenue from organic channels.
What we are looking for
· Proven experience managing and growing sales through Shopify or a comparable e-commerce platform.
· Strong understanding of e-commerce trading, online merchandising and conversion-rate optimisation.
· Experience planning and delivering digital marketing campaigns with measurable commercial outcomes.
· Practical experience with email marketing, segmentation and automated journeys, ideally using Klaviyo or a similar platform.
· Strong working knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Search Console and e-commerce reporting.
· Good knowledge of SEO, content optimisation and modern search practices.
· Ability to manage Shopify products, collections, navigation, landing pages and theme content.
· Working knowledge of Shopify Liquid, HTML and CSS, with the ability to make routine front-end changes.
· Strong commercial judgement and confidence interpreting data, prioritising opportunities and challenging weak assumptions.
· Excellent written English and the ability to produce clear, persuasive customer-facing content.
· Highly organised, detail-focused and able to manage simultaneous launches, campaigns and website priorities.
Desirable experience
· Paid search, paid social or managing digital agencies.
· Shopify applications, integrations, APIs, product feeds and tracking tools.
· Heatmaps, session recordings and A/B testing tools.
· International e-commerce, localisation and overseas customer journeys.
· Fashion, accessories, lifestyle or another product-led retail brand.
· Canva, Figma, Adobe tools or straightforward short-form product content.
What success looks like in the first six months
Clear objectives and baseline measures will be agreed at the start of the role, with structured reviews after one, three and six months. Success will be judged on both commercial results and the quality of the foundations established, including:
· A clear e-commerce growth strategy and trading calendar in active use.
· Reliable sales, traffic, conversion and campaign reporting established.
· Consistent, accurate website management and stronger online merchandising.
· Priority improvements to product pages, navigation and the mobile customer journey delivered.
· Effective email campaigns, segmentation and automated journeys implemented or improved.
· Measurable progress in conversion, average order value, email revenue, organic visibility and online sales against agreed baselines.
· Evidence of disciplined testing, commercial initiative and continuous improvement.
