Personal Assistant to the Managing Director | Business & Personal Support | Career Progression
Guildford, Surrey (Office Based)
Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 per year (depending on experience)
Become the trusted right hand to a growing business.
At Thornemere Limited, no two days are ever the same.
We're a fast-growing specialist services company operating across multiple divisions including pest prevention, live bee removal, roofing, drainage and ecology. As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an exceptional Personal Assistant to support our Managing Director in both his professional and personal affairs.
This isn't a traditional PA role.
We're looking for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys solving problems, loves bringing order to busy people and takes pride in making things happen. You'll become a trusted member of the team, helping to keep both the business and the Managing Director organised, efficient and focused.
If you're someone who naturally spots what needs doing without being asked, enjoys taking ownership and isn't afraid of rolling your sleeves up, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
You'll provide comprehensive support to the Managing Director across both business and personal matters.
No two days will be the same.
One day you may be producing presentations, managing projects and organising meetings.
The next you could be arranging travel, dealing with confidential correspondence, organising household services, managing vehicles or solving an unexpected problem before it becomes one.
You'll become the person who keeps everything moving.
This is primarily an office-based role in Guildford. However, as you'll be supporting the Managing Director personally as well as professionally, there may occasionally be times where you'll work from his home office or another company location to provide support where required.
Responsibilities
Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
Business Support
- Complex diary management and appointment scheduling
- Managing multiple busy email inboxes
- Producing professional documents, reports, presentations and training materials
- Taking meeting notes and following up actions
- Coordinating projects and ensuring deadlines are met
- Booking business travel and accommodation
- Managing expenses and receipts
- Maintaining accurate filing systems
- Handling confidential information
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and third parties
- Researching information and preparing reports
- Supporting with process improvements and business administration
- Managing incoming calls, voicemails and correspondence
Personal Support
- Managing personal correspondence and post
- Booking holidays and personal travel
- Organising vehicle servicing, insurance and administration
- Managing household utilities and service providers
- Arranging appointments
- Coordinating contractors and tradespeople
- Maintaining personal records and filing
- Assisting with ad-hoc personal administration
- Helping ensure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly

At Thornemere, we're always looking for better ways to work.
We actively encourage the use of modern technology and AI to improve productivity, automate repetitive tasks and solve problems more efficiently. We don't expect you to know everything, but we do want someone who is curious, embraces new technology and enjoys finding smarter ways of working.
Whether it's researching information, drafting documents, organising data, creating presentations or improving processes, you'll be encouraged to make the best use of AI and technology to maximise your effectiveness.

- Is calm under pressure and adaptable when priorities change

If you're someone who enjoys being relied upon, likes solving problems and isn't easily flustered, you'll thrive in this role.
